It ran OK, and I took her for a spin ~ 20-30 mins. Got back, switched off, switched on - dead as a dodo.

Any recommendations for a replacement?

that 6-7 years is a good life for a battery, and even if they haven't got to that stage,it's amazing how much difference a new battery makes to starting capability. My Boxster RS60 used to start fine, but took a lot of cranking. My local mechanic suggested we try a new battery ("just for fun") and it started immediately. That was in early 2014, and the car was registered in 2008.
