Heater lukewarm

Hi looking for some advice acquired elan s2 last year went on long trip found heater only lukewarm whole journey but would get nice and hot when stuck in traffic also temp gauge never seems to move unless stuck in traffic is this normal had se elan years ago don’t remember this problem any advice most appreciated thanks

If the temp gauge isn't moving, where it is sitting? At the lowest end, middle, etc?

From the sketchy details it sounds like your thermostat is stuck open. It's a fairly easy thing to pull out and check it. I would just replace anyway on a recently acquired used car since thermostats are cheap and they are a regular maintenance item.

No it's not normal. I suggest you change the thermostat. Cheap and easy to do.
