Front ender anyone?

Red one up for auction in Southampton folks, looks like its been a fairly tidy car but the MOT history isn't great, current MOT expires 10th July, mileage seems genuine. Was registered 31 Dec 1990 (which should make it a H, but its on a G, which doesn't look particularly like a PP).

Looks saveable but the underside is badly corroded and the windscreen is damaged, chances are though this will probably be another one lost.

Is that a tonneau type cover or does she have a vynil covering on the hood cover ?
Don’t remember seeing that before ?
I assume the automatic gearbox is a mistake or can one be fitted ?

Yes but I don't see that as parts, I see it as another project, with a little front end polishing required
Besides I would be bidding against the amateur breakers who over pay so that they can sell second hand cam pulleys and used brake pads, to recover their money.

The MOT shows corrosion advisories as far back as 2010 and going through the years thereafter, front and rear subframe, front and rear
suspension arms. If you have an account you have access to some other info including the full registration.
I think the G plate is actually a PP, but not a very interesting one.

Vehicle is 1990 but was previously registered overseas and registered in the UK 15-1-1992.
It has only had 3 owners.

That is not a rebuild project unless you happen to already have all the chassis components doing nothing. That should be a Category S.

My Collapso was written off in '99 when values for a 130k mile, 8 year old car were still around £14k. Nearside longeron crumpled and N/S beam of main chassis moved back. Damage didn't look as bad as the one available..

Kelvedon had all the bits but rebuild costs were so close to value that Insurance Co wrote it off. Chassis components needed were about £6k to start with ...

A year later Hackney Trading Standards contacted me as a young lad had bought it with a (dodgy) MOT for a price 'too good to be true' but still substantial. It cornered beautifully when he wanted to go straight, and went straight when he wanted to corner so considered it dangerous to drive. Reported his purchase to Trading Standards who agreed with him, confiscated his car and crushed it as a Category A, and were prosecuting the seller, but the lad had no car and no money. I agreed to go to court if needed but never heard further ... still wondering ..
