General history and condition
- Previous owner, Grahame Calvert - known well to LEC - had the car for over 10 years prior to me purchasing in 2015.
- I’ve added around 5000 miles in the past 3 years and kept the car fully serviced at Craig Moncrieff Cars (local Lotus specialist)
- I fitted the PNM rear calliper kit in 2016 and just replaced the AP Racing discs and pads in 2018 for the MOT in August
- The engine runs superbly - this is my second Elan and the chip and exhaust combination give the car a real useable performance increase over standard
- The AP racing brake upgrade is fantastic and gives the Elan a modern safe braking system - great pedal feel and don't require the annual fettling that the standard brakes need to free off sliding pins etc
- The suspension feels great but the front tyres really need changing for a set of Goodyear Eagles to match the rears
- The cream interior adds some welcome brightness to the usual drab grey Elan interior. However, the cream leather does show up more age related cracks and dirt.

Good points
- 2.5” custom made stainless steel exhaust system - fitted 2004
- Pre-cat removed
- Mountain chip installed
- Adjustable suspension all round (SJ Sportscars) - fitted 2004
- AP Racing front brake kit - fitted 2004
- PNM Engineering rear brake kit - fitted 2016
- Goodrich brake hoses
- Cambelt service done in 2015 at 67000 miles
- Fresh set of Lotus tailor fitted mats - fitted 2015
- Custom fit rain shower cape
- Full size outdoor car cover (never used as this car has been garaged 90% of the time)
- Every MOT certificate
- Fully stamped service book - mixture of Lotus dealers and Lotus specialists
- Loads of receipts arranged chronologically in a big green folder
- Some old tax discs (remember those?)

Parts
- Spare headlamp pod motor
- Durite main beam lights - pair
- Durite high beam lights - pair
- Brand new alternator - NOW FITTED (plus new aux and pas belts)
- Spare rocker cover (to smooth and paint as desired)
- Fresh rear quarter paint protection film

Bad points
- Alloy wheels need refurbished
- Front tyres are cheap brand
- Drivers side electric window has just stopped working (not diagnosed)
- Hood has a couple of imperfections and slight leak on passenger side
- Headlamp reflectors starting to look rusty (hence the Durites)
- Passenger side headlamp sometimes fails to raise (twiddling the knob fixes it - hence the spare headlamp motor to fit)
- Existing paint protection film looks tired (hence replacement kit to fit)
- Scuff on front passenger corner of front bumper
- Small dent in side rear bumper (passenger side)
- Age related paint marks and stone chips
- Suspension wishbones look a bit rusty
- Engine bay looks a bit rusty (heat shields need tidied up)

Summary
- In short, this is (in my opinion) a solid car, which has had a lot of money thrown at it over the years and is an excellent example mechanically. There is still room for improvement in this department by fitting the included spares (headlamp motor, silicon hoses, etc)
- Cosmetically there are quite a few areas needing addressed and the list of included spares go part way to addressing these (paint protection film, stainless steel bolt kits, rocker cover). Additionally the car would benefit from a fresh set of tyres and refurbished alloys and would also benefit from the paintwork being addressed.

Reasons for sale
- Two and a half years ago I bought my dream Lotus, an Esprit, and as much as I love the Elan I cannot justify running two Lotus’ (or continue to give each car the fullest attention that they deserve)
- Last year I have embarked on a major house renovation project, and as anticipated costs have spiralled, so the sale of the Elan should hopefully help to ease the strain
