Drivers side leak

I appear to be leaking from my drivers side . I expect it's an age thing. Coolex rad ordered just in case will be booking it in on Monday with my mechanic to check and replace. Does anyone know the y hose part number just in case it's that and I would rather have all the potential bits just in case so I'm not stuck waiting before the festival

Are you sure it's a coolant leak ? Put some newspaper underneath to determine the exact point of the leak and that it is water based

PS if its oily and just in front of the O/S wheel it will be the oil cooler or associated pipework

Rambo yep definitely cooling as I'm loosing coolant not oil and I had the dreaded oil cooler hoses rebuilt last year. Thanks for the heads up though.

For anyone else who may be considering replacing their existing radiator with a Coolex one, I can personally recommend them. They are good and well made. Further details below.....

Hi Rambo, just thought I'd point out that the link above is pointing at the '60s - '70s Elan and +2 radiators
I couldn't find any info about the M100 rads on the coolex website, but they're on Epay HERE (Bare Ally) or HERE (Painted)

Further to the above, as opposed to just buying from eBay I'd recommend phoning the company and speaking to Steve directly. (and mentioning that you are from LEC).

He has always looked after LEC members in the past, and has offered better prices when spoken to (free P&P) and is a great guy to chat to.

Another vote for Coolexperts. I've installed 4 of their radiators ~ just done the 4th. with never a problem.

I agree , fitted the black painted one over the winter, no issues and works well

Yes, I saw one of the Coolex header tanks in one of Jim's many M100's and thought it ĺooked good. Hope you spent a bit extra to get the one with the inbuilt sight glass ?

Do look good especially compared to a yellowing plastic one. Rad changed over today, the old was starting to disintegrate and was leaking at the bottom where it joined the plastic end cap, and some of the fins were flaking off as well. The bottom hose was fine so the new one will go with the other spares.

FFS appears like the top hose has let go tonight , I've ordered one from sjs now but am worried it's not going to be here in time for fitting and testing by Friday for the festival. Is there another hose that I could get from another car as a temporary fix? It's too dark to get it off tonight to confirm.

Replied Steve many thanks for the offer. I've had a look now it's cooled down and it's split right next to the clamp at the engine end.

Is there enough play in the pipe to stretch it and make a cut and then reclamp with the Jubilee clip to effect a temporary repair ?

Sounds like you will be looking to buy a new set of Samco hoses sometime soon ? If so, James at Amber Performance might still be giving LEC discounts ?? I'm sure someone will be able to confirm this.
