Thanks, Simon - saw your post this morning but was unable to post responses until now; I suspect another board glitch.
I do have the locknuts & nylocs exactly as shown in the parts diagram, and have followed the WSM religiously. And I did find the torque setting in TDH7. They are rubber bushes - as recommended for the raft - and I was just worried that it all seemed a bit stiff. But if the pivot shouldn’t rotate at all, that’s fine.
Better to check, though!
Thanks again.

That is why you don't tighten up anything until you have the car sitting on all 4 wheels and you have bounced bot the front and rear up and down a few times to settle the springs.
Then you tighten everything.
If you tighten when the car is in the air and the suspension is in full droop, when you lower the car, the rubber bushes will wind up too much and will fail sooner than expected.

Thanks, John, I’d intended to do a final tighten on the wheels (though still on the ramp). I was really just puzzled at the apparent disparity between the upper and lower sides when on the bench in terms of ease of movement. It sounds from what you and Simon say that that is to be expected and will sort itself out when final tightening is done.
