Rear brakes. Refurb

Evening all.
Question is. Just starting a strip down of the rear suspension and brakes, but I’m unable to figure out how to separate the handbrake cable from the Caliper. Wanting to strip everything off and clean derust and paint. I’ve done the front, no it’s time for the rear.
Any help out there??? Please help.

You can just turn the lever on the calliper the same way it rotates when the handbrake is applied: it should give you plenty of cable slack to separate the cable from the calliper very easily

Managed to get the handbrake realeased from the Caliper. Cheers for that.
Question is now.
Do I get the rebuild kit from sjsportscars, and rebuild my rear callipers ( I can do that easy enough) or bite the bullet and buy pnm callipers.
I have never had problems with rear braking.
I’m just doing a general clean derust and replace nuts and bolts as rust is finding it’s way in. Good winter, spring, summer, autumn job. I will be shot blasting and repainting callipers aswell.
So rebuild or replace.????????

Like I said in this thread, if your originals work well, keep them. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. So long as the handbrake works, keep’em. That way you can still use the spare wheel and will avoid the VW lottery of whether or not your caliper will leak.

As I thought. I’ll buy a rebuild kit and sort them that way. Works out a lot cheaper aswell. Save in one place means I can spent in another place/part. Cheers again. No doubt I’ll be back soon to ask more questions.
