Door lock issue

Postby Bern » Mon 17.06.2019, 14:54

Had a quick look here, seems to be quite a few door lock issues similar but not the same as mine!

A few weeks ago I had a problem where the doors wouldn't lock on the drivers side lock, but would on the passenger side. And then it was fine.

Just been to the supermarket and left it with the roof down but locked it anyway! When I came out I simply reached around to open the lock from the inside and it wouldn't pop up. I tried the key but it wouldn't move. Went to the passenger side and it would unlock then lock. Then it all started working ok!

When I got home it wouldn't lock again from the drivers side. With the key on the passenger side it would lock that side, but not the drivers side. I locked the drivers door from the inside, then locked the passenger door from the outside. The central locking wasn't working.

There's more. About 30 minutes later I remembered I'd left something in the car and it unlocked straight away from the drivers side (the central locking worked), and locked fine too. I tried this a few times, all ok!

Any ideas? I guess I'll have to take the door card off to take a look.

Incidentally, the door handle sometimes stays up, and the door won't shut until it's pushed down, could be connected?

And when I take the door card off, does anybody have any good ideas to replace the carpet along the bottom that covers the screws? Mine is looking a bit threadbare from when I changed the speakers and had to rip it off! I was thinking of a piece of plywood or aluminium cut to size and screwed to the door card.
