Elan reg. M33 3LAN mark 2 project for sale
long story some of which is on this forum from a good few yrs back
brief summary is I removed the chassis to repair minor corrosion issues - spend a lot of time taking all the chassis and suspension parts back to metal - a few minor patches to the chassis - then full phosphate / twin pack epoxy coating and waxing - got as far as refitting the front suspension with new dampers bushes wheel hub bearings etc..
The outriggers in the tub were as best as possible de rusted and treated / painted /waxed - and this is where I left off
I've bought a load of good stuff for the project as advised / sold via this forum- SS gearshift cables / front anti roll bar mounting kit / brake servo M/C upgrade etc..
I also bought pritty much a complete engine overhaul kit - cam belt bearing pulley kit - gaskets - shell bearings etc..
A new radiator, and samco hose kit
TBH without going back through all the boxes I don't recall everything acquired and stashed away
There is x 2 engines c/w cast ex manifolds - both were good runners - one of the manifolds is free of any cracks
There is a chip with the ECU ( it had a broken connector leg which I found on removing and may have been the root cause of an intermittent fault which caused the car to drop into fail-safe mod. - don't know for sure

Ok - sorry this is not a detailed list sufficient for anyone to make a decision but i'm hoping its enough to gain some interest such that someone would like to come over and see for themselves - I can say that this was a good running car that I took apart ref: previous mentioned chassis / suspension corrosion that ive put right and is ready for re assembly, or a starting point for someone to continue with more restoration - the tub is in reasonable shape ref: paintwork - could do with a re spray, could also do fine as is
I would make more parting it out but don't want to - its too good a basis not to rebuild

In the middle of a big clear out do yo house move - coming across stuff stashed away so i'll add as I find
two turbo's in good nick
injectors have been cleaned and calibrated - like new
new set of ferrado race pads ( discs and brakes were new when I got the car ) the rear brake bias valve was rebuilt when I started re assembling
2 speedo clock clusters ? don't recall why I bought a spare
new thermostate and a plastic divertor thing - thinks its for the heater
new fuel regulator and a roll of small bore vacuum hoses - blue ( same as the samco coolant hose kit ) so blue it is - car is blue
new front ball joints and wheel bearings fitted - also have a spare new front ball joint
full engine gasket set - new water pump and belts
2.5" SS rear box ( rest of ex system is std and good )
little packets of things like the red plastic door trim bits - a kit for fitting the front wheel arches etc..
some new engine sensors - looks like a thermo switch sensor and I think a speedo sensor ( fits in the back of the speedo cluster )
new smaller bore brake M/c
new front shocks + originals ( rears are originals ) originals are in typical rusty state - worked fine - my plan was to fit new rear shocks but didn't get to this

well I put a couple of days chav into the car - amazingly found all the right bits n bobs n bolts and got the car on 4 wheels with an engine and the tub sitting back onto the chassis - all temporary for moving but good to know my "filing system" from about 6yrs ago seems to have worked - also rekindled my interest in finishing this project - basically i've done a lot of the crap corrosion hault and prevention work and a bunch more - got a s**t load of spares already procured - soo the cars moving with us

That's good news.

I think this happens to all of us, I know when I came to put mine back together, there were some serious moments of OMG (or words to that effect) what have I done! We are all rooting for you and ready to offer advice when needed. Go for it, it will be worth it in the end.

not far - outskirts of Dufftown - will be a while before I get settled and sorted then i'll rekindle a project page - and indeed will be most thankfull for the detail assistance
Learned a lesson yesterday "do not move an Elan without fitting the drive shafts - or an equivalent bolt n washers - - the front wheels may desire to part company with the bearing hub
