Injector - electrical connector snap ring

I have been wrestling with a recent hesitation/rough running problem. Having owned the car for 12 years and, despite only occasional use and long winter storage, it has never failed to start and run without issue. The last couple of outings (starting with its MoT, which it passed) and subsequently, it has been reluctant to start, possibly only 2 cylinders firing and then running rough. It will accelerate and drive but not smoothly. Switching to service mode makes it stall whereas previously the idle revs would hardly change. I had a good look under the bonnet yesterday (free) and discovered that No.1 cylinder injection electrical connector was lose and missing its ‘snap ring’. With complete removal of the connector and refitting it seems to run perfectly again. However, you guessed it, I’m on the hunt for a replacement snap ring to ensure the connector stays connected to the injector. Ebay seem to sell various sets of ‘pigtail’ injector connectors for £15 or so but which one would suit the Elan or is it possible I can just buy the snap ring? I don’t know why it would be missing but replacing it is obviously high on my ‘to do’ jobs

i would be contacting a breaker, or phoning Steve at SJS considering how specific the part you need is. but theres a good chanse someone in here will have a spare.
another alternative would be to check if rockauto does them for the isuzu and if they are exactly the same

If you mean the spring clip which holds the blue plastic triple-female electrical connector onto the injector, it’s just a bit of spring wire bent into a “U” shape and looks like a big (unused) staple. It can’t be that hard to make or buy, I would think.

If you need dimensions I can have a look for the one I removed from my no 1 cylinder as a temporary measure to disconnect a duff injector.

Thanks for the replies. John - that would be useful if not too inconvenient. As a last resort was going to remove one from No.2 connector and copy/fashion something from a paperclip maybe. I'll check what rock auto has. Breakers would probably want to sell the whole loom and I doubt would give me/sell one clip but worth asking.

considering they are likely more than 30 years old. this seems rather likely.

Turns out SJ Sportscars sell the injector connector (£9.95) so I'll either splice it in or transfer the new spring thingy assuming the old one isn't broken.

As you see one of my plastic connectors broke when I removed the clip.

John, were you able to source the small metal clips that attached to the electrical connector to the injector. I lost 2 of mine when changing out my injectors
