Don't know the car or the owner specifically however this was advertised on Gumtree earlier in the year at a far higher price but don't think it was advertised on any other platform until now.

At the current price it looks a bit of a steal going by the pictures of the work that has gone into it!

No, but given the ad. I would request a look at the invoices for the work done etc...maybe get an INDEPENDENT PPI done.

As Par has mentioned, the car was up for sale earlier in the year. Advertised on Scumtree in April for £7500. Owner (Michael ?) then looks like the same owner now as car is advertised as being in Currie (a few miles from Edinburgh airport so handy for a Donington flight) It looks lovely in the photos with lots of work done. Looks like a modified MG hardtop in the deal too, along with non standard wheels etc..

Considering the work gone into it, it looks like a good deal.

I wish I had seen this a month or so ago before purchasing mine which still needs most of this work doing..

Lot of work done certainly would need to see receipts to verify - for what's been done appears a good price although I would question why it hasn't sold before now

Not a car I personally would consider though - to me owning a Lotus means buying in to a heritage and originality - those Carlos Fandango wheels just do not suit the car and a MGF converted hard top - no thanks - these cars in their original form look fantastic - subtle improvements like upgraded brakes , suspension etc keep that look and improve the reliability - these are the things I would be looking for .

Given the fact that the Elan are very hygroscopic, I'm surprised the MG roof hasn't been adopted more often,
especially all those hardy all year round Elaner's

Yes last pm I saw the old gum tree add , the car looks tidy I dont mind the hardtop it would make it more user friendly. Long way to go and look for a banger tho .
I would of thought that if he stripped and rebuilt the car that he would of been on here somewhrre.

One thing that worries me about anyone trying to sell a car is hiding the car's registration no.

Why ? Because as a potential buyer one is presumably trying to find something about the vehicle ie MOT history via the Govt's website, whether it's currently SORN'd or in regular use. And also do an HPI check to see whether there is any outstanding debt on the vehicle

As a sceptic I always wonder what they have to hide

People hide the reg for different reasons, just ask him. If he's not forthcoming with it then start to worry !!

Looks like a reasonable deal. If you don't like the hard top just remove it - what's the problem ?!

Aaronderby - if you are seriously looking for an M100 you have to be prepared to travel to find a good one and the right one for you. As I mentioned, its only a short hop from East Mids. airport

Went to view it yesterday, looks better in the photos be he has receipts for all of the parts so I bought it!

The bodywork and interior need some work but it does drive well. It heads a superchips so i may tolerate that. I've got to go up by train tomorrow and drive it back so I'll see how it goes.
