Side/Indicator light lenses

Postby djwazza68 » Sun 10.11.2019, 20:32

A long-shot, but I don't suppose anyone has a cross-reference for the side-light/indicator lenses, hopefully from something like a Vauxhall Nova?? I don't fancy the £350 for a new set from SJs, mine were clearly in some sort of altercation that damaged the bumper and were blobbed together with Sikaflex!

Unfortunately, they aren't from a Vauxhall Nova.....

...... however, should your local scrappie have a large selection of Esprits you may find the version with the same light units.

... Sorry, that isn't very helpful - not many Esprits in the local scrappy.........

...still, there is actually a cross reference to another manufacturer which may help......

....if your local scrappy has a selection of McClaren F1's.

(On a sensible note, SW Lotus had them at a cost - and the lenses are available seperately if you can fix your rear shells - lenses as either 2-colour or clear)/
Dave

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

Do you need just the lenses ? Or the housings, gaskets etc as well ?

I need just 1 shell as it turns out, I've salvaged 1 from the 3 pieces it was in. The other is beyond help. I will also need the seals for both, they were absent. Can anyone other than SJs or South West help?

I was intending to chrome paint the inside, and wondered what the corroded pieces of aluminium were for?

Cheaper ?? The EBay prices look horrendously expensive to me

Clear indicators lenses (pair) £79.95 SW Lotus
Clear/amber indicator lenses (3) £79.95
Chrome housing (per item without bulb holders !!) £120 SW Lotus
OEM clear/amber indicator lenses £234 from the States
Rubber light indicator seal £50 DVB  (you can get these new for about £20 inc vat, p and p from SJS)

If you had to cobble together just the 1 from this list it would cost you an eye watering £250 (without bulb holders) so you're probably better in the long run to go for a pair of new ones at the SJS price you quote above

I went the eBay route this morning for a bulb holder for £50 and will get seals from SJs or South West. I should with some judicious use of Chrome paint be fully functioning for less than £100... until something else is discovered to be broken obviously!
