Is it worth upgrading spark plugs to platinum or iridium?

Not sure, but I've just grabbed a set of
Denso IK20TT iridiums from Opie Oils via Amazon for a very reasonable £36.30.
I was sucked in by the engineering and
sales pitch!

Amazon order cancelled. Let's try the even more reasonable
FleaBay specials for £25.50.

Well spotted, Geoff - I’ve just ordered as well, along with a couple of NGK coil packs. Trying to get some Kingsborne plug leads, but their website’s a nightmare for non US buyers.

They're about 10 miles away from
Tiger Doug. Drop him a message if you are having a problem. Tell him I sent you. Better still, maybe best not to tell him I sent you.

Mine arrived yesterday. Red Kingsborne leads in the way. For future reference for anyone who’s considering the same leads, I Spoke to Kris Richter - very helpful chap.

On ebay it gives you the option to check if it fits your vehicle. When I went through that process it told me it's not suitable
for the 1992 Elan Turbo ??
Silk Red SE Turbo
Short shift conversion with BB aluminium cables
HiSpec front brakes
PNM rear brakes
Piper Exhaust
Aluminium radiator
Closed Loop conversion

Hi Trevor
I’ve never found the eBay “Does it fir your vehicle?” tool to be anything other than patchy. All I can tell you is that the Kingsborne web site lists our car, they knew about it when I spoke to them, they were made to order, and BCN in Charlotte told me in passing that he has a set to fit to his car.
I’ll let you know what happens when they arrive!!

To be accurate, I told Jonathan I have a set of blue 7mm Kingsborne ignition cables. I still use BKR6E plugs (gapped correctly).
Look at the WikiLEC!

Changed mine at the weekend as the car was running rough and on/off cylinders so bought some NGK BKR6E (less than £10 for 4) and in case the leads were also at fault some cheap Cambiare leads (around £23) changed the plugs and the difference was like night and day, car runs perfectly no misfire and no issues so will keep the leads safe for the day I need them as the originals seems to be fine.
Old plugs were well past their sell by date and were badly fouled, probably due to short trips and limited usage for the last year.

What ever happened to using the correct original spark plug NGK BKR6E gapped to the proper specification?
(I was typing this as David was entering his post, thus the similar response.

I would agree the prescribed NGK BKR6E plugs were cheap enough and my car is running a standard set up, boost etc so no need to go for anything more exotic, work fine in my car with the current set up gapped to recommended value and torqued to recommended setting. Each to their own but for me less than £10 was worth it to resolve the poor running and the leads I bought were only to test and confirm if I had a lead problem, but since the plugs resolved my issue I left well alone.
