No rev counter cel light or battery light stiff throttle

Good morning all

I went to start Elan up this morning started car but had no cel light on or battery light when I turned on ignition. Car started straight away and running fine but have no rev counter. When I pressed throttle pedal was very stiff and felt like a contact had stuck once pressed down pedal it moved freely but still no rev counter. car has been standing for 4 months.

That sounds to me like a fuse. From memory, fuse A20 controls CEL, no charge lamp, and is also connected to the rev counter. Suggest you check that first.

It’s also worth looking at the circuit diagrams and other manuals, which are kindly hosted by Brit-Car-Nut of this parish(and also in other places). Very handy for sorting out odd electrical problems.

If the voltmeter was not showing anything then it might be fuse A18. Check for common supplies…

Thanks for help and quick response. I will have a check of fused at the weekend and let you know if it sorts it this has happened a few times recently and no and then the rev counter springs back into life. I will have a look at throttle pedal as well because I’m sure I read a while ago there’s an electrical contact on pedal which sends a signal back.
