Front sidelights not working

Postby Swedguy » Thu 11.06.2020, 20:57

Hi

I´ve got an Elan S2 M100, LHD, and the front sidelights have stopped working.

As I understand from the fuse scheme there are two fuses number 6 and 7 that should be for the LH and RH sidelamps.

I have checked these fuses but they were both ok.

Would be great if someone here on the forum have a clue on how to solve this problem!

You need to verify that you are (or aren't) getting power to the lamp.
Do the side lights in the panel ahead of the door light?

A test light is all you need.

If you test and find that there is power at the sidelights, then check that there is a good ground (earth) at the black wire going to the sidelight.

The grounds (earths) are fed from two different points on the chassis, so it is unlikely that both points have failed, so it is more likely that the red/white or red/black wires.

Both sides are fused, so, again it is unlikely that both fuses are bad.

My first guess is either both bulbs have failed or the bulb sockets are dirty and need a good cleaning.
