ECU reset

Hi would i need to reset my ECU after i have had my injectors cleaned and refurbished? Read something before on the forum that if new injectors etc are fitted you need to reset the ECU?

It's a good idea indeed. You can do it by removing the battery for a few minutes.

It's because there are a few correction terms that the ECU is maintaining so if you change a fuelling part (for instance) it's better to start over the default factory values. But in the end the ECU should converge towards the same values anyway. It's just that if you had a big problem (here clogged or leaking injectors) the corrections values at the first startup would be very far from ideal.

Before you disconnect the battery, just out of interest, do a paperclip test in diagnostic mode and find whether any error codes have been stored over the last 100 (I think ???) ignitions. Very simple to do (<5 mins) and it might just highlight something else that needs attention

Once you disconnect the battery to "reset" you will lose all these error codes, if any
