Major Blow With The Recommissioning Of Missy

Bugger bugger bugger. I'm at a massive crossroads now.

SWMBO has been trying out Missy for size with the two seat options, once she's far enough fwds to reach the clutch pedal she cannot change gear as her elbow hits both the Lotus seat bolster & the SLK seat bolster (she's 4'11").

So I have to decide if I keep the car & do her up with a view to selling, or part company with it now & cut my losses.

Feeling quite low at the moment.

Maybe there's another seat option which doesn't have quite so big side bolsters ?

Seem to remember MX5 seats being fairly slim ?

Sorry to hear this. I've had a few unexpected surprises as well on my road to recommissioning, but the advice on this board helped me figure out how to get past it. Also time and a few drinks helped too . Maybe others who've done so could weigh in, but could changing the gear lever make a difference, or switching to the short shift kit?
Hope you are able to figure something out that (reasonably) works.

The SLK seats have a good amount of forward and backward adjustment and, helpfully, also good height adjustment which the standard Elan seats do not have. Therefore, if you are still working on the footprint to bolt them into the car, then you might consider having the seat slightly higher, and obviously forward, which may help the issue. As I said before, mine are slightly too high so, at times, I feel as though I am sitting "on" the car, not "in" it, and my view is obscured by the header rail (I have deleted the visors though).

A minor issue that is common, a short shift kit will solve this, and for even more room switch out the seats to S2000 (your bases are likely bagged anyway)

S2000 seats have been used by quite a few so maybe a good alternative
