No worries. When I saw it, no-one had downloaded it, hence my post. The initial post was lacking information. Your subsequent post is more informative and helpful. The fact that your user profile was created on Sun 12.11.2006 at 12:08 and you only have 45 posts in a 14 year period alluded to a possible hack. Apologies if I offended but I was merely asking for the benfit of the forum members if it was a scam or a phishing download. Perhaps I won't bother next time......

Nah, s’OK John TB10, I wasn’t offended at all, amused really.

Yes, a member for yonks, to begin with just because I always loved the Elan and dreamed of owning one rather than just having the original Lotus postcard that I collected from Bell and Colvill near my brother’s place in Surrey in 1992.

Then I did knowingly buy a dodgy example (for a song) to give me something to do in my imminent retirement. And that’s when the first of the postings began.

The retirement didn’t eventuate for several years more, and after many hours and much money that green S1 Elan was still a garage ornament. Then in Jun-20 I saw a concours winning S2 gem in the perfect Mustard Yellow being advertised. And now I have got two!

I am not really sure what to do with the Green S1. They are too rare to break it up (especially in Oz*), but I don’t want to carry on with the rebuild. It would be hard to sell in its non-functioning state, needing a petrol tank and a soft top (both without splits).

My son says that he would take it on as a project, if only he had a garage to accommodate the S1 Esprit that he is rebuilding and his exquisite S1 Elise. His “sensible” car already sits outside.


* How many M100s are there in Oztralia? Does anybody know?

I believe that you can't have too many M100's .......... (no further comment) but that is the sad thing - donor cars are potentially worth more than one in need of further work. Looking back, how many cars have you owned which were worth very little when you disposed of them as potential rust buckets and now command high prices (Mk2 RS2000, Nova SR, Manta i400, Sierra Cosworth..... I could go on but I might cry!) Just hang onto the BRG one as if it owes you nothing then it will pay dividends in the future.

Hope you persevere with the green one Barry. Re the fuel tank, a plastic welder in Sydney did a beautiful job on mine for about $500. Was cracked in several places, now tight as a drum. If you’re ever up this way. Hoods can be obtained from UK.....
