Afternoon all. So the Elan failed the MOT this year. One of the major items being emission. So I'm thinking that the injectors may be a good place to start. I think the injectors in our car are the original ones. Have people been getting good results from getting them cleaned? Are there any recommendations for companys to carry out the cleaning.

I got mine cleaned, but my goal was to improve rough running/rich smelling exhaust over a specific emissions measurement. I got a fancy looking report from the shop that shows an improvement in spray pattern and static flow (varied between 1.69% and 3.45% improvement), but I could not perceive any difference in the actual running of the car. From what I learned in researching different places to perform the service, it seemed like they were all basically the same/standardized service equipment, so I just shopped around on price. I've also seen folks have success in just letting them soak in a WD-40 or similar solvent bath for a while. Happy to learn what others have experienced too.
Regarding your emissions improvements in general, a common refrain here is to try elanscan, so that you can better pinpoint/narrow down your search in contributing factors. Getting an interface is cheaper than an injector cleaning, and it might just be a sensor that needs refitting. Good luck!
