I have been tracking my running problem to a bad spot in the throttle position sensor. The sensor on the car has soldered pins and the replacement has a plug connection. AS I have no history of what was done before, which is correct?

Hi,
Your TPS in the car sounds standard. The solder joints close to the sensor should be left alone.
There is a connector a few inches down the line where you can unplug and remove the TPS.

yes, soldered on. Although the only time I have looked the blue wire wasn't attached so I soldered it on which didn't make any difference.

You should be able to check TPS operation with elanscan - smooth operation of the throttle should give a smooth trace. Post a scan so we can offer suggestions.

I have had a consistent problem of engine cutout at 2900/3000 rpm. I also recently had the engine lose power in low rpm while driving and trigger the engine light. Run the rpm up and the engine light goes out and the car runs fine. In 15 miles it did it 4 times. This is why I am pointing to the sensor.

Did you get an error code for the CEL? TPS will trigger 21/22
Engine speed and throttle position are fairly independent. If you have a scan the throttle position integrity (or not) would be apparent.

I can't upload the elan scan files. The .ecu extension is not allowed.

Previously this year I had a error code of low TPS. I had 4 faults and all were the same.

After that I had a error code of high MAP. Faults were 1000 and all MAP

Elanscans. two scans done months apart but very little driving this year.

2 scans with almost no data - 26s and 11s. To be of real use the scan needs to be from cold to fans on and whilst driving and reproducing the fault. 5 or 10 minutes of data.

From the 27 seconds of data ..
TPS looks ok it appears to be a stored fault - voltage is ok and % as good as matches - you need to put it through the full range of movement a few times.
MAP looks ok as a reading but combined with IAC indicates a vacuum leak or idle set wrong.
IAC is 10 it should be 20 at idle
Spark advance looks a bit retarded - but not enough data to understand conditions.

Check for vac leaks also check the throttle cable adjustment and stop position.

re-check
go for drive while scanning and try to reproduce fault then post the scan of the whole drive.
