That car has been around for quite a while. In fact, I think the seller had two at one point, one of which was a Kia Elan. I believe the sellet imports cars from Japan.
So expect some differences ie air con will probably be standard, rear no. plate square, cat. temp. sensor etc....Car will be LHD as they drive on the same side as us in Japan

Nothing sinister, Mark. There's a box underneath the description which contains the following text:
"This advert has now been removed through sale or otherwise. Please see the list below for similar live adverts."
It's not the seller's doing - it's just that Car & Classic has an idiosyncratic layout.

The seller does import cars from Japan - that is their main business
The car is a UK car bought in the UK exported by an Japanese individual but now brought back by these guys
Apparently the car remained registered in the UK
Low mileage and It is RHD too - is it too good to be true if it has been around for some time ????
I will give them a call and may take a look
Will report back if I do

Well I have booked a viewing for next Saturday at 1.30
Would there be an experienced Elan Guy local to Middlesbrough who would fancy taking a look at it with me - just to make sure I dont get my leg lifted ?
I'll pay petrol / expenses
Thanks in advance

I didn't think I was imagining it. This is the advert from the same guys for a Kia Elan
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/353373437019I can't remember how long both cars have been for sale but they are certainly not "fresh imports" as described. I do remember there being some sarcastic dialogue about the expression
LQQK AT THIS OMG WOW but can't find it at present. It would give you an idea how long the cars gave been for sale by the date of the posting
"
FRESH IMPORT IN UK STOCK * LQQK AT THIS OMG WOW"
The black one you are looking at looks very nice and tidy but an extra, more experienced eye, will definitely be beneficial. We do have some LEC'rs in and around the Midds. area. In the meantime, have a read here....

Hi Rambo
They told me they have had the car for two years but they said that is not unusual as they dont price them to sell quickly.
They also said they have about 400 cars in stock and have been in business for 30yrs - their web site bears this out.
I asked if there is ANYTHING wrong with it and the guy said nothing at all.
All papers to prove everything about the car too.
Well it cant hurt to take a look
Cheers
Shaun

No worries, Mark.
The blue NA looked okay in the photos but there's no substitute for being able to see it with the mark 1 eyeball, kick the tyres and check the outriggers!

Agreed. There is no substitute for feeling the wet carpets and smelling the tin worm

I suggest you tap on the owners name then "search user's posts" to get some background info.

Nothing lost then. If it''s been for sale for 2 years then something is amiss ie price, condition, history etc...
I sold my 1st one within 37 mins of advertising it on here. And it was after midnight too

For some reason my PM function isn’t working?
Shaun, if you haven’t found a BRG car, mine is now for sale. PM me if you need any details, it’s just had a years MOT put back on it and this was my (edited) previous sales pitch... I’m now actually buying a 1980 Alfa Spider so need the garage space otherwise I would keep the Elan.
Just trying to gauge interest as I’m downsizing my collection (I’m replacing the Elan for a Midget!) I have loads of photos and a walk round video if anyone is interested, please PM me. I won’t be listing it on the standard sites until I determine if it is worth selling, so you might get an early chancel own it.
The car is BRG with a new hood, was stolen recovered against a Cat claim in 2008, has just over 72K on the clock, was resprayed and had a new green leather interior put in about 3 years ago and has had a full rear suspension rebuild, brake calliper replacement, light pod rebuild, new cam belt 1000 miles ago and rear chassis restoration in my ownership. I have tried hard to waterproof the car and have restored the rotten seals, and added Jamie’s A-pillar seals and FTO seals to the doors. It will come with private plate E14N OO and I’m looking for £8000 ONO.

Hi Rambo, I'm going to look at L123SPY 270 tomorrow. Its back up on C&C with pictures. I don't thing its a Kia as it has the Isuzu engine but if he can not show me who the repair was carried out by or any receipts for the repair then I find that a little bit more than odd and obviously hiding something and if I want to sell it at some point it may prove to be a problem. He had it repaired so he must have some documentation about it. He gave the name of Nigel any ideas?

There seems to be a lot of confusion about M100 S2 270. Some thinking it is LHD, An Export and Import too, from japan, air con. Car warehouse sale, Owners name Cat C, cat N, how long its been owned by how many and how long it has been up for sale. I even employed a PD who went by the name of Bodie only to discover he died about 8 years ago. I love a mystery. I have discovered so much but never seen the car, From owners to the body shop who allegedly repaired it. Stay tuned, I'm getting close

I went to have a look at L123 SPY S2 M100 Medina Green in Marlow last Sunday (9th May '21). Drove it up the road with no issues apart from that bloody dump valve noise when you take your foot off, and the smell of old, stale fuel, (or was it my aftershave) it had a tankful of it. I bought it home, driving steady through the local town to keep the dump valve quiet and save my embarrassment of being the only 70 year old boy racer in the UK.

It's not the best one by any means but everything works and most of the regular failures have been dealt with in its recent past. ie. headlight bushes, Timing belt ( 2 yrs ago) brand new front brakes and PNM rears which pull the car up very well and in a straight line. plus a SS PNM exhaust, alternator, refurbished wheels, (although 2 need doing again already,) the hood is newish I would say and the front Hankook tyres look new as well with odd ones on the back which will be replace tomorrow. There are no bearing noises from anywhere and the clutch and box are sound apart from the throw on that gear change, are they all like that? There Is no mystery about this car and its Cat C status. As much of its history is on line The insurance and salvage company who sold it for the Insurance company state in writing that it is a Cat D which would make sense looking at the repairs which evolved fitting a new N/S lower wing panel and turn signal repeater light and a repair to the upper part of the wing, plus some small damage to the front part of the door. I have photos of the damage and that's what made my mind up to at least go and have a look. Hopefully I can get to Brands this month so the guys in the know can point out any problems that may arise and what to keep an eye on in the future

Sorry, only just seen your question. And no, I didn't know Nigel or his car. Sounds like you have bought it now though Biffo so well done
