Silicone hoses

Anybody else had constant coolant leaks from new silicone hoses?
Clips seem to need constant tightening and yet another puddle on the garage floor.

In a word ~ yes.

Edited to add - not really constant. Just one or two to be nipped up a little

Could be "compression stress relaxation".
When you squish rubber with a jubilee clip done up tight -over time the rubber relaxes and the jubilee clip becomes "loose".

Youre better with those "spring" type clips that self tighten (no idea of the technical name but I'm sure someone will tell me )

In a word.....no leaks after 4/5yrs.
Both Jonathon (saltire) and I used original jubilee clips from Samco.

I too used a set of the new Jubilee clips with the Samco hoses and have now done this twice. On both occasions there was a slight weep on one joint but I found it best to go round and nip them all up

Result = no leaks

Spring hose camps, but they're only practical for smaller sizes

Jubilee clips have the advantage that no special tools are required. The the variability is probably due to the user, one person's idea of tight enough being different to another.
