Elan width......with and without mirrors?

Perhaps a silly question: what is the width of an Elan SE turbo? I've seen 1.75m (not sure about mirrors).

The reason I'm asking is we're about to buy a house that has a workshop attached. It's teeny but (I think) almost wide enough at around 2.1m. It's more for storage than a garage but is that wide enough as a parking/storage space?

Thanks Geoff! 74.3 inches (1.88m) is going to be very tight, that will be a squeeze. I'm assuming you can fold the mirrors in? Hope so.

When i lived in Stafford i had the standard garage size you find everywhere in the country. (the one whose size was designed for cars with the original mini dimentions)
The elan could drive in, and i could squeese out of the car, but i installed carpets on the sides to avoid scratching the doors.

overal not a pleasant experience specially for someone who drives the car on a daily basis. personally i wouldnt pay an extra penny for a house with a garage/workshop that size. with less than 10k you can get a garage appropriately sized at the back of a house ( within the limits of not requiring planning permission) which will be a pleasure to use. mine has been a blessing over the lockdown period where i worked on the elan extencively, It also doubled up as workshop for all other projects i have going.

The workshop is long and has a door at the side. But good point!! Might be an excuse to lose some Wight

Yes, a standard garage door is 7ft (2.13 m).

You'll get in easy, but as mentioned above getting out of the car might require some contortion.

Usually there is a frame around the door so the imternal width of the garage is wider.

Other than losing weight, put some tape on the edge of the car door. Putting the roof down and winding the window down make getting out much easier.
