durite lamps (042275 042276) dificult to find these days?

I had a google about and im finding them missing.

a few years ago i got a pair of the dipped beam ones when my car failed the MOT I was now looking at the main beam ones and the only place selling them is a website that makes me feel uneasy (contact us page has a gmail email account and no address)

Any ideas where to search next ?

worth noting that my calling my (not so) local auto parts spplier wasnt able to get me one

but after modifying my search parameters and searching for "Durite 0-422-76"
i did come across a company that sells a headlamp unit that happens to be a cross reference with the durite units mentioned in the wiki.

I've ordered a set of 4 to replace in both cars main beams. Monday i will contact them asking about the xxx75 variant which they also claim to be able to supply but its on "special order" only.

I may need to put in a special order for a set of dipped bean lamps on monday before they post the whole thing over.

Will be updating this post in due course.

no idea what you mean by Cibies but at the moment everything is on top of the workbench. one of the pods is completely disassembled and the other will be done in front of the camera for my youtube channel.
the second pod has a broken ring. im either going to buy a new one or weld/fabricate a replacement with the tools available.

The dipped beam lights were made by Cibie. They fog up but are easy to clean.

So these references won't get lost in the depths of the forum, I have edited wikilec and added it to the Headlamp entry.
The Durite nos. are also quoted at the top of said wikilec Headlamp page.
Unfortunately the Durite website shows both as discontinued. Once it's gone, it's gone.

I always find the wikia bit fiddly to get on
the ones im getting from bowerparts are not durite, but some other brand/factory that is making an equivalent unit.

Contacted hbower about the dipped beans and they are unable to source those at the moment, they told me the parts should come back into stock but they have no idea when, could be a couple weeks, could be 6 months they have no idea.

so, at the moment im lucky i got the dipped beans 5 years ago which i can fit now.

I'm currently under a different difficulty which is the plastic rings. i've melted through one of the plastic areas where the bolts screw the rim, im going to try and rebuild it somehow.

I know theres replacements from shapeways but the prices are just ridiculous.
ive found a different source for those rings which may or may not work with the elan. but they are also out of stock in here

I Came across something interesting as i was inspecting the durite 042275 units i purchased many years ago
although the lamps came in Durite packaging, They actually dont have anywhere in the housing the word durite.
i foudn the word "NEOLITE" and code "0210371" which broguht me to this page.

My dipped beams need replacing as the reflective silver is dropping off. When I measure the diameter across the lens they are 5 1/4 inch not 5 3/4 inch as the ones being search for above and in the Wiki. Am I measuring them incorrectly or something?

I have bought the dipped beams from Burton Bike Bits and can confirm they are a perfect fit. Just have to change the wiring to H4. Their part no is NEO913. Durite equivalent is 042275.

i can see they changed their URL path.

the problem is that i actually dont know if the lamps in this link are the same as the original link i provided (the description seems to match, but theres no cross reference to give me the level of confidence to recomend it.)

I suggest you contact them to ask if that model is a cross reference to any Durite, Ring or Hella part, and then check against the list provided in the previous message.

I may have just stumbled on to the holy grail of Main Beam Headlights - Cibie Mains to complement the Cibie Dips!
They take H1 bulbs, fit into the white plastic cradles with no alterations and have the raised, flat profile of the Dipped beam lights.
One caveat: The terminals need 7.8mm spade or H4 connectors.

They're Valeo / Cibie 082378 - markings on the glass read: SAE 08 295

I found one NOS and one good second-hand, needless to say they're much better quality than the Durites.
The only problem is they're a bit thin on the ground - my second-hand one came from a Jag XJ40, but not sure if they were standard fitment.

im currently in the process of fitting both neolite replacement lamps. they fit just fine, the wiring needs to be all adapted because the bulbs are the other way around. but so far everything seems to work just as one would expect
