Boost Gauge Off Scale.

Just driven home with my Boost Gauge showing around 0.4 bar boost on light throttle & low revs and then went off the scale when I stopped on my drive. 'Engine off & ignition on' gave me this

I was a bit worried about it damaging the gauge so thought I'd pull off the supply from the Boost Pressure Transducer but it obviously works in the other direction as it stayed the same. Then I noticed the bottom screw was loose allowing a 'floating earth' and a few turns to tighten it up and every hunky-dory again. Offending screw shown in this one..

My gauge started to be eratic, but the turbo appeared to be working normally. The forum was my first thought, and sure enough...a loose ground screw. It was that simple, once you have the benefit of the combined experiences of members.

Posted that 4 years ago. So pleased owners are still finding it helpful.. makes taking a few minutes to share info so worthwhile. That's why LEC's orderly structure is so much better than Faceache and other chit-chat sites.

Just thought I'd share...

Piss poor electrical design in my humble opinion because the connection is liable to move because of the well nut. I've modified mine and gained a useful earth tab:

Thanks, Lotusflasherman and Geoff, this was very helpful for me too. I did not find any list on what bulps have to be used for the gauges. And do I have to remove a gauge to replace the bulp?

All the bulb types are listed on WikiLEC above under "light bulbs"

The small gauge bulbs are cap type readily available from Halfords.
And no you do not need to remove the 3 small gauges to fit the bulbs.

Off the scale boost gauge, solved with a quick tightening of the earthing screw.
