interior lights not working

Hello to the group!
My interior lights not working in my new PACIFIC BLUE S2 I bought before 4 months. Can you help ? what i must check first? i already check the fuse in the passenger side, and is ok.

I also recently acquired an S2 in pacific blue. The original and a second aftermarket alarm system had both failed and been removed. The central locking is driven by an alarm system on S2, will look at another aftermarket alarm system later. Seems that S2's suffer a lot from alarm system failures.

I checked inside the interior lamps and there was no bulbs at all. Unbelievable . Why someone to remove the bulbs
So i put new and works fine.
What i must check for the central locking ?

Its quite common actually. Many cars suffer a battery drain and its often either the boot light or the interior lights. The boot light because the microswitch moves out of alignment, the interior lights on the mirror because its so easy to turn them on/off when adjusting the mirror in daylight and not notice the light is on. Best answer is to make it right and then periodically check. Second best answer is to remove the bulbs and forget all about it....

On an S2, there is no separate central locking (CL) module. The CL is controlled by the alarm, and will not work without it. If you have no alarm, you will either need to fit a replacement one that has integrated central locking (I used a Toad Ai606 T2), or else buy a third party CL system and install that.

MY Alarm it's not working . I saw the black box of alarm under boot lock in the passenger side. I connect it but nothing happen. So maybe thats the problem.
Thanks i am thinking to take the car in my lotus dealer to check it.

I also found the alarm sounder in the engine bay of my S2 but the rest of the system has been removed.

The OEM S2 alarm sounder is not in the engine bay, so that sounds like an aftermarket unit.

And the OEM S2 alarm control unit isn’t in the boot, so I would say that’s an aftermarket alarm as well. As such, it’s anybody’s guess how it’s been connected up or if it ever worked.

parasitic drain was happening over the halogen bulb, too little current to lit up. but enough to drain battery.
a side result or a poor installation of an aftermarket alarm in my experience with a 98 alfa spider

theory can be tested in 2 ways.

1 - the tipical parasitic drain check (go on youtube and type "eric the car guy parasitic drain")
2 - replace bulb with LED equivalent. if its got light very faint when its not supposed to, you know theres something wrong.

Just a point on Joao (Tuga2112)’s excellent post above. When I replaced my incandescent bulbs with LED four or five years ago, I found it impossible to find an LED for the interior lamps which both has the right cap fitting and is the right size to fit the recess in the interior light. As an aside, that’s why I fitted some extra interior lighting in the footwells. Check the dimensions of the bulbs carefully before you commit to buying

I Have had that issue in the past on my 4Runner, I bought a LED panel similar to this listing on ebay with the correct adapter for that specific socket.
a little white tack holding the panel close to the original diffuser and behind that the connection to the bulb.
only problem is. i dont think you will find these small enough to fit inside the small difusers of the rearview mirror. but theres a possiblity something that small exist.

these LED panels are a lot brighter than the halogen bulbs they replace.
