Everest Chip and Boost

Hi All

I have an everest chip fitted to my SE but the boost never goes above 0.5bar - I know that the gauge can be out but it definitely doesn't seem to give any more umph than it did before.

When I initially bought the car it had a manual boost control switch which i took out and reconnected the pipework.

The facebook M100 group have suggested disconnecting the Boost solenoid and that this is the one nearest the front of the 2 fixed to the offside wing.

My car only has one solenoid and that appears to be the rearmost - there is space for another on the bracket.

Could this missing solenoid be anything to do with the problem?

I would pull the air pipe between turbo and plenum so the turbine is visible and then feel if it spools without resistance first.

I had a similar issue a long time ago. The problem turned out to be that the throttle cable wasn't taut enough so, with the pedal all the way down, I wasn't getting full throttle. An easy check would be to see how much slack is in the throttle cable and, if there's some there, tighten it up and go for a spin. Just be sure you don't tighten it too much such that your idle RPM is too high.

Elanlover - you are quite correct. Adjusted the length of the throttle cable and now boosts up to about .9

Thanks Elanlover fix worked for me. I reckon that should unleash an extra 50ish bhp.

Glad to see it was a simple and inexpensive fix. That cable will stretch over time so a few checks from time to time are a good idea. One day it'll break like mine did. You might even be as lucky as me where it only 3 blocks from home - too close to call for a tow and far enough away to evoke much cursing as I pushed it home.
