Front discs are Astra/Cavalier/Daewoo parts........ Apec DSK518 (or cross ref to another make!) - they may be in stock at a local factor, or from ebay for £30 a pair (ish).

Callipers are from an Asta GSi (but Vauxhall used 2 different types of callipers on the various GSi cars, so you need the correct ones..... Pistons are 52mm diameter, and if you need new pistons as well as seals, then it's about £31 from Bigg Red on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284575791506 ... SwmTFhwF3v

If your pistons are good (which they should be) then a set of seals will set you back £15(ish)

Sliders are Vauxhall Cavalier parts, about a tenner a side (if you need new ones, or the seals are knackered) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262069047441 ... R-yAiYfYYA

Always use silicon grease - not an oil-based lubricant.

At the rear it isn't so simple - the rear disc is a one-piece unit with the hub, and cant be replaced on it's own (unless you have the hub adapter units fitted, which is NLA but some were made a number of years ago to allow for new discs to be fitted) - your options here are to get them machined on a lathe, or clean them up with a wire brush in an angle grinder, and see how you get on.

Rear callipers are from a 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme (but they are fitted upside down on the Elan, so a RH calliper fits the LH of the elan and vice versa). Parts in the UK are scarce (only 2 choices of pads, and very few rebuild options unless you use SJ Sportscars etc for their items)...... but if you look on Rockauto.com in USA there are about 100 different pad options, all the rebuild bits you need (except new pistons) and even new callipers. Alternatively, Mark Elvin (ex-M100 owner) did have a few sets of seals and sliders for sale in the UK, but I don't know if he still has any.

Jayeme69 if it's any help, I bought a load of stuff:- Crosland air-filter, oil-filter, Magnatec, Bosch plugs just before I got my '90 SEturbo in Jan '22 (all delivered + vat etc) from Carparts4less for £33-61.

A couple of weeks later I bought Pagid front discs + pads from them for ~£25 but cant find the receipt.

In May Eurocarparts (their sister firm) were having a 'deal' so I grabbed another pair of front Pagid discs + pads 'for the shelf' and they were £26-92 del.

They don't list rears...but I gather rears are incredibly rare + pricey - probably the specialists will be the only source. I think I've seen rear pads at a reasonable price tho'.

I spent ages trying to free up my seized front calipers but after ~10metres they were just as ineffective so I bit the bullet and bought recon'd front calipers (and pins) from SWLotus and paired them up with my Pagids grateful that someone better than me had put the important bits together :) I'm confident with the new front brakes now (thankfully the rears were 'done' with new discs + pads to pass the MoT just before I got it) but others think a 'sportier' front upgrade is a necessity - and there's similarly a sporty rear upgrade, too - since the m100 brakes were never anything 'to write home about' when new (I gather...)

Loadsa luck + thanks for the pic advice... :)

...their w/sites are worth keeping an eye on.
They often have 45%offs or 1/2 price sales, and it's quality stuff - worth stocking up on 'consumables' at these prices even if only for 'the shelf' :)...

Well still couldn't get it running without hot wiring the fuel pump so pulled the dash and ripped the immobiliser off it, still no signal from the Turbo ECU, so i pull the glovebox to find the ECU missing and the plugs too , just cut out, so thank you very much to my benefactor, i have forked out a small fortune on parts so far, had all the headlight parts 3D printed, bought 4 new LED headlights, door lock, dash parts, discs and pads. Handbrake cables, fuel filter, plugs, leads, o&f, ... Blah, Blah, Blah But that just takes the biscuit! i think i'm done now as i just don't have the heart to continue!

Oh no that sounds absolutely awful  . I wonder if this was the car that was for sale on Gumtree back in the spring for 2500 in Cupar by a trader or garage of some sort, when I saw it on Synetiq that was my
immediate thought that it was the same car, I'm almost certain it was, maybe somebody bought it and took the expensive bits off it and then put it into the auction when they realised how much work it needed?

The other confusing thing is though when you said back in the first post on this thread....

" a few hours of tinkering ,a Battery and fresh fuel she roared to life in a beautiful (loud) harmonious melody of pops and farts"

then surely that indicates the ECU has been nicked whilst at your place?, correct me if I'm wrong but I've never known a car that was able to fire into life with the ECU and it's wiring hacked out.

Yes it will run by running power straight to the fuel pump, they have two ECU's , one for the engine and one for the Turbo, so it will run but without any boost.

So not the engine ECU then, that's good news!, pretty sure you could find another one and sort the wiring easy enough. Don't abandon it because of that.

nah - the “A” and “B” are the row letters for the connector and the numbers are the pins. There’s just the one ECM. I don’t understand how it started either because I think the spark timing and fuel injectors are ECM driven.

Mate that’s a disaster and I’m so sorry. It’s not cheap, but there’s an S2 ECM on eBay at the moment. I’ve read somewhere that the connector which some arse has chopped out is a GM part. You said earlier you don’t like wiring and although it would be a fair bit of soldering and heat shrink it wouldn’t be too hard to rewire a plug on there.

Tony beat me to it with his post.....

.... as George said, there is only 1 ECU under the glovebox, any other "electronics" for the turbo system are 'just' the various actuators and sensors in the engine bay.

There is no way that you'd be able to hot-wire the pump and get the car to run with the main ECU missing (although if it is playing up, or getting incorrect signals from elsewhere it may not run very well),

I would think that the issue is to do with an alarm/immobiliser system which has either been installed, ripped out or not done right in some way and affecting the ECU signal to the pump (a standard circuit to interrupt with any immobiliser) and that is what you are currently up against.

If it isn't in your comfort zone to check and fault-find, then I'd suggest getting an alarm installer to take a look and tidy it up - it should be basic stuff to someone who understands these things (which isn't me!).

Could you post a photo of the area where it’s been cut out please? Zoom in on the cut wires so we can see some of the colours and we’ll be able to work out what’s been removed.

Dave i totally agree with you, the ECU is missing as are the plugs, some animal has just chopped it out, I have removed the immobiliser and all related wiring and it runs, revs, no coughing , farting , backfiring and sounds good.... Sooo explain that because it shouldn't be possible? I can send a video if you don't believe me lol :-D

Please could you zoom out a bit? Just a bit of the general area too? Thanks

I don’t think that’s your ECM harness. The colour markings are radial but on mine they run along the cables. Also the tray where something has been removed looks too small and the wrong shape. Also, your engine runs…
