Dashboard back lighting

Having just battled with replacing a number of back illumination bulbs for the speedometer, auxilliary dials and heater controls, i think everything now works as it should.
However i now wonder if the cigar lighter and the headlights on/off switch should also be illuminated?
Third world problem i know, but i like to get as many easy niggles sorted as i can.

So given that the answer to my question is that the headlight switch is back lit (if i had looked in the wiring diagrams i would have seen this)
Does anyone know how to remove the switch to get to the bulb. Is it possible to extract from the front, or does it need a dashboard dismantling exercise?

both times i had it in my hands was when i was removing the dash fascia in order to access other stuff. you wont need to remove everything, as soon as you get the instrument cluster out you can easily access the switch...

in my case i had to take out the steering wheel and half the dashboard bolts to free up enough space on that side to get the instrument cluster out.


i will be removing the instrument cluster out of the car again in the near future anyway (the flexiboard has a cut on the circuit that powers the rev counter) if i rememebr ill put something on facebook to show the process

I know you're more than capable of making a good repair Tuga, but FYI new flexible circuit boards are available from the usual suspects under part numbers:

i was not expecting that to be available. its good to know i can fallback to these if my repair fails
