Which ECU for Elan M100 Federal US car and where to buy

Postby Tedebayer88 » Sat 20.05.2023, 21:44

I have a US market Lotus Elan M100. My mechanic checked everything traced wiring and all looks solid. He agrees time for a new ECU. I would appreciate any guidance on which ECU to buy and recommended source to buy from. Thanks. Picture shows current ECI numbers.

If you are sure that the whole ECU is what you need to buy, then it isn't worth buying a used (unknown) one, or trying to find one from an independent supplier.....

.... Lotus can sell you part number A100E6533F:-
Electronic Control Module, (ECM), engine managment Turbo catalyst (except California) 1 NEW £159.37

This is a direct lift from www.deroure.com, the parts department at Bell & Colville.

You may be able to get one in USA from Dave Bean, but Lotus will happily post one over the pond for you.

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

Just to clarify. Is your mechanic saying the ECU is faulty and needs replacing, or just that it is 30yrs old and it ought to be replaced?

New original ECUs are hard to come by, especially with the correct Prom ID, but you could use your existing one and put it in a new ECU if you find one!

John C in NC may have one, if you really do need a replacement ECU.

Have a read of the Mountain Chips tab at the top to give yourself some info on the various ECUs.

EDIT posted at same time as dapinky. I forgot B & C still have stock.

THANKS ALL FOR HELP! Ordered and look forward to having "Karma" back on the road. I've owned 121 cars ... about 60 of them British. This is my 2nd M100 and I really love driving that car!

A Merlot colored Fed M100, That's a beauty. Now that my BRG, in Calif. won't pass smog test. I'm asking, was that why you needed an new ECU? My factory manual says that for Catalyst Turbo I have to have a separate manual B100T0327J I'm trying to figure out what's the next step.

Just curious - do you happen to be located in the San Diego area? I saw a merlot-colored Elan in a Costco parking lot several years ago, but haven't seen it since.
