Front bulb replacement.

I expect this is common knwledge but it took me by surprise.

I wanted to change a front indicator bulb.

First remove the cover. Two set screws. One was (correctly) a M4; the other was a self tapper. Why? It left the factory with two M4s so why is one missing?

Remove old bulb. Bayonet fitting.

Offer up the new bulb, whereupon the bulb holder disappeared out of the back of the carrier. The carrier has a rubber casing and unless you are very careful it cannot resist the push of the new bulb being fitted. I suppose that with needle pliers it might be possible to pull the holder forward before it disappears but it would not be easy. Once it has gone it is not coming back easily because access is then by removing the bumper. Unbelievable.

My solution was to release the whole carrier (two set scews hidden by the rubber gasket) which allows the carrier to be moved sideways and a finger to be laid on the escaping bulb holder. The holder can then be encouraged to come out in front of the carrier.

Not ideal, but a solution of sorts.

i had same issue many years ago.

i ended up taking the whole unit out and reattach the back with some electrical tape to make sure it wouldnt cause more issues in the future.. its worth noting at that time i was removing the bumper to re-spray it.
ignoring the whole removal of the bumper ordeal and seized nuts on the main braket, it was a trivial task..
