I Can Hear Rushing Water!

Just like the sound of someone moving in a bath. It happens when I break reasonably hard and is on the passenger side.

The car was out in the rain for a week. No wet carpets and have just removed the seat and taken the carpet and foam out expecting to find a puddle in the cill and not.

Thanks for suggestions boot is dry. Door drains I will have a closer look - I only shook the door and concluded that there was no water in it.

I know you say that it isn't in the sill, but on my red car I had the sloshing water sound effects and it WAS in the sill (in the completely enclosed section, so I can only think that it got in where the 'A' panel bolts were fitted)....

..... anyway, a 6mm drill bit soon sorted it out.

Thanks Dave, I've got the back on ramps seat out carpet out foam off and put my hand inside - is there somewhere else I need to look?

I'm going to take the dinitrol bungs out of the rear wheel arch in case it's hiding in that resovior.

I basically drilled up into the sill just behind the rear jacking points - that was before I ever ventured in to look at the cill structure, and thinking about it now, I'm not at all sure where the water was collecting - but it was definitely in there, cos it came out (I'm now wondering if it was the drain tube from the petrol filler area getting in somewhere, but it was 16 years ago and I can't really remember)

I remember the WSM had a section on drilling holes in the sills of earlier cars, I think the later ones should have had them drilled at the factory.
Found it - Service Manual - BK Addenda Page 56.

Just checked both doors nice big clear drain holes.

N/S rear cill has a large drain grommet on the inside by the fuel tank which is clear.
Looking at the shell there is a tray with a drain hole at the bottom of the B post or between the rear bulkhead and re-enforcing that both require investigation.

im not sure if the section underneath the A post panels is the same section where the front jacking points stand.
when i was welding my jacking point a couple of years ago (2020), i couldnt find the rubber well nuts that were pushed down when i originally painted the car the first time (in 2014).
I wonder if there is a separate section where you can get water through the a post but wouldnt be visible after removing the carpets.

another option that "may" be worth considering is that the middle of the square chassis section (where the gear cables run) may be hosting the water.. from someone on the drivers side it could sound like the passenger side where its actually practically below your left arm
