Coolant Reservoir Cap - a warning!

Coolant tank looks nice and clean ie new Ron. Just be aware there were also issues with some coolant tanks bursting at the welded seam.

PS I take it after your coolant erupted you had no problems with your coil packs?

Coils were OK afterwards, during the rebuild the terminals were cleaned up and the rubber seals were treated to a coat of vaseline which seems to have done the job.
I'm on my 3rd tank! The original GM one lost the metal reinforcement in the top hose connector and it started to split and crumble. The first new one did split at the seam, so this tank is my second new one, and so far has held.
I tried my yellow cap on the original tank and it seems to be a better fit. Could be a difference in the material or a small difference in the thread diameter or pitch?

Has anyone successfully plastic-welded one of the original tanks?

A tube of Electrolube Contact Grease is a good addition to a tool kit, it's a conducting grease that keeps spade terminals in that "just cleaned up" condition, and keeps moisture out. Used in the Electricity Supply Industry so got mine f.o.c.. A small tube lasts a lifetime and costs about £10 on fleabay.

(Joao, the reason we keep all the 'good' knowledge dispersed is to make us old gits look good when a problem re-surfaces after many years - if anyone could find the answer, we wouldn't look like we actually knew things!!!!) - oh, and it gives us a chance to yell "Why not just search for it?" again

unfortunately i dont have any ideas how to effectively gather the information (apart from getting all the "old gits" together into a 5 day M100 convention) and even more dificult would be to find a way to lay out the information in some way that would be easy to find from anyone using the website. (flow diagrams with links to related posts or wiki pages is the only idea that comes to mind, but that would still be undewelming) .
