Rear light units

I have removed the rear light assemblies so that I can clean between the outer clear plastic cover and the light units themselves.
Each assembly is held together with 4 metal clips top and bottom, so I need to release these.
Is there a special tool for this?
If not, could anyone who has done this job please give me some tips on how to do it and avoid breaking the clips or damaging the units, and also getting the clips back on again.

I did the same job recently. I used a small svrewdtiver to gently prise the clips off. I doubt there isvany 'special tool'
Rplaving them is just a case of hooking the slightly longer end in place first, then pressing the clip down with your thumb until it clicks in. No damage done, but as the plastic is old now, make sure its at least at room temp, and be gentle with it.
