Anything much over 6foot is awkward for vision roof up. No problem at all for space or comfort, but it gets a bit more like driving looking out through a letterbox if your head is up near the canvas.

I am no expert on retro fitting AC as it isn't a big issue in the UK - that said, I do have it on Angies car, but I haven't touched it other than topping up the gas so it's cold!
However, the OE system was designed for Freon 12a, which can't be used in the UK (not sure about Malta, though).... most here have been converted to r134a, with a new drier and compressor (if required).
I was told that the one in my car had been replaced with an 'off the shelf' compressor by an AC workshop, with some minor fettling to get it all to fit to the brackets..... so it is possible to get parts to do the job, without having to rely on Lotus parts (which would have been 'common' to something else at the time anyway.
I would expect any garage who understands AC systems would be able to design and fit something which works, but as I say, I'm no expert!
Do you happen to know the new compressor reference by any chance?dapinky wrote:I was told that the one in my car had been replaced with an 'off the shelf' compressor by an AC workshop

The natural air circulation (with no fan) is really poor at ~low speed in mine (I would say you start to feel a nice air flow with your hand above 140kph), although the hood cover hinges flaps are free to move and I don't think the trunk lid canals are clogged up ...
And also the windscreen air flow is quite poor even at max fan speed?
