+1 from me for Dave’s comments. I have stopped using SJs completely and switched over to Mike Hopes at South West Lotus for everything I buy in this country (I.e. not RockAuto). He’s always been hugely helpful, prompt to reply and knowledgeable about the car. In some circumstances (e.g. B post caps) SW Lotus have an improved part to offer.

I’ve also spoken to James who is often at Castle Combe, to get some advice about a specific issue, and he was extremely helpful too. Can’t recommend them highly enough.

im going to tax the NA this month. so. should have a backup.. although i dont really know if thats just asking for trouble with theNA As well

im currently trying to remove the gearbox D filler plug... this is not fun. and im reluctant to messing about with the speedo cable, i rather fix the filler plug for good instead of risking dropping crap in the gearbox from the top

Tuga 2112. I recently bought a Subaru (3210KA000 magnetic - £13-50 del) oil drain plug with the express idea of replacing that D-plug with the original drain plug and putting the new one at the bottom.

I know the D-plug isn't a fill-level plug and my idea is to drain the gear oil out every couple of years then replace with 1.8l of fresh oil through this new plug - rather than faff about unhooking the speedo drive.

There's a bespoke D-plug tool (that I'm looking for at the moment) within our community that a member's fabricated and is, thankfully, available for us to use. (More evidence of the nice guys within LEC...)


Mxer125 - re RA spares, I got a Gates water pump (41053 - £23-78 plus 'bits'...) from them in July '23 which exactly fits their belt profile. They're not selling Gates' at the moment but it's worth keeping an eye on their w/site. This might explain why m100 owners become such 'spares hoarders' . Sorry, but you might have to bite the bullet in UK at £60+vat+del this time but we've all 'been there' and returned much wiser - especially after consuming 'lashings of customer service' over this side of the pond...(yeah, me too )

Poxy £100 dayco pump didn't fit.. jeez never known anything like it lol..

First pump wrong splines
Second pump doesn't fit..

Dayco pump I had to drill out the 5 holes to 9.5mm so it would line up with the bolt holes and grind a small area at the bottom of the pump so it would sit comfortably..

These have got to be cheaper old rejects because I can't see the £100 value..

But it's all on and I'm happy now, not looking forward to the next 5 years..

I'll certainly be on the look out for a Gates pump in the future..

Second pump doesn't fit..

sometimes they are a bit fiddly as the metal bracket at the top overhangs and there is limited visibility and access. Dayco are actually pretty good. gates dont make them they just put them in a branded box.

I did warn you about the dayco pumps

if your in the northeast, you can have one of my spare kits (i got 2 on the shelf ready for my projects) under the condition you wont be leaving without ordering a replacement delivered to me. however my Dayco water pumps are not a perfect fit, when i installed the first one, i needed to enlarge the holes in the pump in order to line up with the engine. (im still unsure how that happened) but its fitted and theres no leaks. so im happy with it.

Next issue I have a spark but it's not firing!..

Straight to fuel pump and I don't hear anything, checked green/white wire 10v and other wire white I think 3v is this enough to fire the pump?..
