Gaz Shocks and red springs......

Postby simonbuk » Sat 11.05.2024, 21:53

Just trying to identify what I've got !

A set of Gaz shocks and springs were fitted in 2019. Haven't pulled a wheel off yet (sorry!) but I can see red springs.

This ring any bells with anybody ?

Only things I can find online are all black coloured springs so wondered whether these were different for some reason ?

Going to investigate further tomorrow........

GAZ shocks for the M100 are designed to be used with 'standard' springs, as opposed to the 'normal' coil-over sized springs of 2 1/4"...... so unless the shocks were a "special order" then the springs should be standard (at least in dimension, if not in rate/colour).

I used to have a manufacturer who would make me up various lengths and rates of springs as a 'special order' when I was building and competing in race/rally series, but these days it is an expensive endeavour to get them made in small batches. As such, I would expect them to be Original springs, stripped and painted..... or standard replacement, painted - but it could be anything!

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

Looks like the discussion about fitting adjustable shocks and springs never came to anything (these are some print outs of email discussion when my car was being re-fitted).

Looks to me like standard shocks with red springs :-D

I'll upload a photo when i can reduce them enough in size, etc, etc.

I had a previous MOT mentioning about 'slight misting' of oil on one of them and again this time around. Surprised if they have started to leak in 5 years with hardly any mileage - but then i just don't know what got fitted (maybe some old originals were put back on).

Shame i didn't find a set of Gaz adjustables but hey ho, never mind !!

Intrigued to know what 'red ones' are though :?:
