My name is Meike and I'm the proud 'owner' of a husband who owned two Lotus'es (Loti?) before. Back in 2012 he bought a Lotus Elise series 1 in the spectacular color Chrome Orange ! He owned it for a good 5 years and we even did a holiday to Switzerland with it.. not a problem at all and such a good memory ! *A daytrip to Oberhausen in heavy rain and a wiper that stopped working was a bit less
Then the Lotus Evora, came in sight and my husband was checking all the ins & outs about the Evora in general. Then the Lotus dealership VanderKooi had a silver Evora for sale and soon it was a fact the Elise and the Evora switched owners. We've owned the Evora for about two years. A spectacular car also, but also a bit frightening at times.. It drove so easily the higher speeds and accelarating from 50mph to 90mph (and above), it was just too easy sometimes.
Plus it didn't gave us that thrill as the Elise did. Sometimes the Evora just felt like a 2 door saloon (but with a lotta oomph)
I think many would agree, once a Lotus driver.. you stay a Lotus driver.
And then, the Elan M100 ! My husband always liked the design of the M100, a bit of a baby Esprit with those popup headlights and the same shape.. and in a weird way even sometimes a bit like a baby Diablo in certain angles. Back in 2011/2012 ish it was close or he could have bought an Elan back then.. Or the Europa. The last few weeks (or months) my husband was searching the web again sometimes for M100's on trading pages like Gaspedaal and Autotrack.
Last weekend, Easter weekend, we went for a short holiday with the camper and in Belgium there was a British Racing Green Elan near Brussel. Long story short.. not our favourite. The car looked worned out and too much a project car. We continued our weekend in the camper with a visit to the Nurburgring. Even did a Taxi ride which was a blast to do.. And while we were in Germany.. My husband contacted the owner of an Elan in Amersfoort. And the cardate was set.
It was not a joke, but on April Fools and 2nd Easter, we were looking to a steel blue Elan (which is probably known here by some
(to be said.. In the first meters we did the testdrive, we falsly compared the Elan with the Elise.. and they are totally different to eachother. We had to let go that comparison in almost every way)
We did our last research at Lotus VanDerKooi and later last week, we made the arrangement the Lotus Elan was coming to our place. It's pretty weird and exiting in the same time.. He've owned a BMW i3 for a good two years till last week, when he sold it with a high depreciation sadly (more than we ever expected, but that's the second hand ev market nowadays) and now he will drive such a spartan car again, but in the same time with more fun and more feeling the BMW ever could give. Yesterday we picked up the Lotus and drove almost immedetaly to Lotus VDK for some showboating and making an arrangement for a small service, just a check up and new fluids. We got the approval he or we made a good deal
So that's about it for now. First project is on the table with the door lock mechanism which isn't working as it should do. We will see
Photo's will be uploaded soon !

), sadly snapped at one side, still usable but already we did a order for some new ones. The stock didn't go down that well and now it goes a bit smoother. Also, as seen on the photo below, my husband took a little matt black spray on a piece of cardboard and painted the lock on the outside with a brush. Looks so much better now
