Lotus family grows to two - IOW

Postby roj » Tue 16.07.2024, 12:44

Hi there,

Greetings from the Isle of Wight. I'm new to M100 ownership but not new to Lotus ownership.

Our M100 joins an Exige V6 Club Racer. Two very different beasties.

I've been trawling the forum for advice and I have to say, what a great community there is on here.

If anyone can help, I'm trying to get hold of 'Elanlover' as he has some parts for sale I'm interested in. If anyone can DM him to contact me directly that would be most appreciated. At present, I'm not allowed to DM as I'm a 'newbie'.

Cheers,

Rog.

Hi Rog,
Your first post(s) have now been approved, so are visible to Elanlover, and you should now also have the ability to send PMs.
Dave

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

Welcome Roj! Greetings from the US!

I'm sort of new as well, so welcome from another newbie. Have the same Calypso Red spec myself. Love these cars and by the looks of it, you do too! Would love to know your thoughts on the FWD Lotus vs. the RWD Lotus.

Having just purchased one of the items ElanLover was selling, I can attest that he's easy to deal with and hope you can act fast since a lot of those parts are going quick. Best of luck and hope to see you around the boards!

Thanks for the welcome.

I haven't had chance to drive it much. It's now become the wife's daily. All I seem to do is shovel money into it at the moment. :)

Unfortunately I missed the boat on the parts. I was after the door cheaters.

I've red one or two threads where members have 3D printed these. I'm now hunting for the 3d files. If anyone reads this and knows the whereabouts of door cheater 3d files then please give me the heads up. Many thanks in advance.

Oof. That's was my purchase... awwwwkwarddddd.

For 3D parts, Toby has a Shapeways page: https://www.shapeways.com/shops/1kenobitoby
I've also found: https://www.thingiverse.com/search?q=elan+m100&page=1

Think I've seen that the cheaters have been 3D'ed somewhere, but the issue is there's a seal that also attaches to it (felt piece) which also may be hard to come by. Wish you luck in finding them, you may want to try DaveBean here in the US. Ask for Ken... he may have some good parts that may not be found in the UK. I can also ask a couple people here in the US I recently met if they may have a pair. Let me know if you'd like some help!

haha! It was you!!!!!

No worries matey. We're all in the same boat. I got your DM and I could very well be tempted to get hold of yours. I can't even scan mine as they're toast. Send me pics when you get the chance.

My only saving grace is that I have both felt pieces.

So if I can get hold of your cheater, 3D scan it, modify the 3D model to add the tabs and I could be on to a winner. Simpy mirror the model for the other side.

Keep me posted and thanks for your help.

So sorry again!

Mate, if you can scan it and make a proper model, I will gladly send you my righty spare free of charge. For the greater good... greater good. A proper scan benefits us all.

theres a logistics (adopted in engineering and agile software industry) mantra called KISS

following that mantra may I suggest. rip the old stuff out, and put some thick velcro pads there. wont get any worse than already is
