No main beam

Postby cellaway » Wed 17.07.2024, 20:45

I’ve got dip beam and main beam on flash. Is there a regular problem with not having a normal main beam. If not I guess it’s back to the wiring diagram. The cars a fed spec

Looking at the wiring, the dip and main use the same supply. The flash function uses a separate supply but the same wiring after the dip switch. Logically, I suppose the only thing it can be is, the dip switch. Incidentally, whilst the switch feels OK, the dip doesn’t go off when the main is selected. Is this normal ? Looking at the wiring diagram it looks like it should email or dip but not the oth.H

After reading other threads I guess I’ve been a bit short with the symptoms. The pods lift and lower with dip lights. The main beam does not operate with normal operation of the stalk switch but the main beam indicator and main beam operate on flash. Dip doesn’t go off with main selected on stalk switch. I take it that the car (‘91) hasn’t micro switches, so at least I know what diagram to use.

The blue/white wire from the dip switch was intermittent open cut. This stopped the power to the main beam relay coil. Connection remade., I now have main beam, just in time for the controle technique (mot) on Wednesday, of course that’s providing the insurance herberts do their bit. Now I get to go sailing on Saturday
Are the dip switches available ? I think I read that Vauxhall used the same one somewhere along the way.
