wheel centre badges for S2

Postby transcup » Tue 28.06.2016, 18:05

I am looking to replace the wheel centre badges on the S2 with BBS 16" wheels.
I think to replace the 4 centres are £19 each .
The existing black plastic is Ok, just the badges look a little tatty
It would make sense to replace the badge only
Can you recommend the correct badge size and a good supplier
There are plenty on ebay from china / hong kong , who has tried these and can recommend

When I wanted to replace mine, SJS couldn't supply proper ones. I had to go with the Elise centres, which are very slightly different in diameter.

This post talks about a chap who can make up the badges sized to suit. I tried contacting him on here and by email, but he only seems to respond to Facebook messages. And I'm not on Facebook

Just search Lotus under wheel badges.

Dave, I've currently cancelled all of my eBay sales as post offices here are closed on 26 March and I am not sure if they have reopened as I tend to stay at home and I'm concerned about delivery delays.
I do have a few sets of the original (reproduction) Lotus yellow and green caps available and a few of the black and silver caps. But I have no way of posting them out other than DHL.

Same here. Thanks for the recommendation, they are superb. The colour is an excellent match.

Gents - It's finally happened..I've lost the plastic centre cap off the wheel (S2)! I thought I had seen someone who had 3D printed a bunch of them for sale. I went down the route of refurbing the cap badge/logo with some good decals a while ago and it has worked v well...but now I've lost the actual centre cap (which was sikaflexed in place!). Looking at the cost of a single S2 (53mm) cap from the usual bunch (PNM, SJs) is just so depressing (where do THEY source these things from anyway?). Any assistance on sources would be gratefully received. ta Mike

check how much it will cost from shapeways.

i can 3d print one that is found on thingyverse,
if it works or not. i have no idea.

When I moddeled my own SE caps I needed 8 iterations to get the measurements right for my wheels/printer combination. no idea if the S2 files from thingyverse would come out as a straight fit.

If you're happy with cheap and cheerful then these will fit. The badge is slightly bigger at 56mm so overlaps the hole in the wheel, plus the yellow is slightly green.

Looks like this

They currently show as out off stock, but they seem to reappear every so often. Alternatively there are lots of 3rd party BBS caps that will fit the wheel, you just then need to source a badge.

There are lots of generic caps on Ebay or Amazon. If you search for BBS 56mm wheel caps you'll find them.

Here's another example https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/363669457125

I bought a set of these because I wanted to make one wheel badge. I already had a Lotus bonnet badge of the right size and I glued it onto one of these generic caps.

I only bought the cheap Lotus ones because my MoT garage lost a wheel cap (and the hub dust cover) when they adjusted the rear wheel bearings - and then tole me they couldn't find them

Dumb question on a very old thread - so the centres are just stick on to the caps? mine look tatty and i want to try the 3D printed ones but sounds like if these are just glued on then the centres should be fine. Or did you just stick these over the old ones?

Thanks and apols for the throwback question!

Hi Mike - I found a 3D print file and a place to make them. I'll let you know how they turn out because if they are any good I will order a set, can do a +1 at cost and post to you if you still need one. Not due to arrive until mid-Feb.

Thanks for the offer, but I have 6 spare generic centre caps from eBay. Three with BBS logos and three with cheap Lotus logos.
What would be useful is a source of good colour, 55 or 54mm Lotus badges at a reasonable price to glue onto the centre caps. The logo on the caps for the OZ wheels would work but would be an expensive way of doing it.

Hi Wayne - I tried contacting you via the site - do you have any S2 caps left? Many thanks
