I'm contemplating doing a closed-loop conversion. I've read all the bits I can find, including the stuff on the wiki, and watched Tuga's video on it, but because I'm still very new to it all, I'd appreciate it if someone could confirm that my understanding of the steps are correct (mainly with regard to the wiring)?
1) Remove turbo bung, install o2 sensor (plan was a bosch 15701 from Rockauto, coming at approx 19£ for the sensor and 11£ for shipping), connect to existing harness connection.
2) Chop the grey wire and the brown wire with the yellow tracers and connect each to a new wire (planning on using solder seal connectors and heat shrink), and run the new wires into the car.
3) Connect the brown wire with the yellow trace that I have run from the wheel arch to the brown wire with the yellow trace above the dashboard in a 3-way connection (I was planning on using a t-wire connector) - I know Tuga's video details the specific pin to confirm as well. Correct me if I am wrong, but as I understand it, this is for power to the o2 sensor, and I am splicing into an existing alternator line. - I know about issues with the alternator light coming on if it's not up to scratch.
4) Connect the grey wire from under the wheel arch to the grey wire that comes out of the back of the ECU
5) Install the new board and make sure it's in closed-loop mode
Apologies, I know there have been some excellent write-ups of this already; however, I haven't done a great deal with electrics before, so I wanted to check I had understood everything properly.
