Rear Brake Upgrade

I have a couple of sets of the Type R / S brake kits if anyone is looking to upgrade. Everything ready to fit, no modifications just bolt them on. Very easy to service and spare parts if ever needed will be available for a long time to come. Can fit for you free if you can come to Fife!. Kit comes with everything needed, hoses, pads, brackets, bolts, and me as your online mentor if you need any advice when fitting .

Thanks Jamie for a great kit
It was straightforward to fit and is a great improvement on the original setup.
All was spot on after I deglazed my original rear discs to enable the new pads to bed in properly.

It was easy to fit and my handbrake woes are now a thing of the past!
If anyone else goes for this upgrade and you are using your old discs make sure they are deglazed/roughed over to enable the new pads to bed in proper. I used a flap wheel in my angle grinder. I didn't initially.... schoolboy error

Hi Jamie interested to know what make and model caliper these are based on. Robert

These are derived from a Honda Civic (FN2) Type R Robert, you can't just get a set and fit them to the Elan though, you need to fabricate the brackets and work out exactly the dimensions
and where to drill them, you also need a cable bracket from a Peugeot rather than the Honda one as it's a better fit for the Elan cable.

If you would rather take the simple route there are 2 sets here ready to fit with everything required, calipers, carriers, brackets, every bolt and a set of pads, just bolt them up and bleed the brakes,
you then have a fantastic handbrake that will be well over the required MOT percentage, and no problem sourcing parts if you ever need them. 190 Posted anywhere in UK or come to Fife and I'll fit them
for you.

Just to add I also have a couple of pairs of these modern Bosch calipers if anyone is after super sharp front brakes for very little outlay. Again they require no mods to the car, simply bolt them on. Very easy
to service / change pads, remove one 13mm bolt and swing the caliper up and thats it. Grease the sliders once a year and these will last the lifetime of the car. Comes with everything including flexis and pads.

They have a massive amount of pad in contact with the disc as you can see in the picture, I have these on my own S2 and the difference from the old OEM brakes is astonishing, virtually as sharp as any other upgrade costing a fortune more.

By far the cheapest way to upgrade your front brakes. 180 the pair and I'll fit them for you, or post.

Not really - but I'll pass it on to Geoff who has a better idea than I do of the technical workings of the site (I only do the stuff that needs doing until it breaks, then I have to disturb his holidays!)
