Well, I don't know the car, but I do know the seller.....
..... as with any car in this price bracket I would be buying it and expecting to do work on it before hitting the road. It would get the "Pinky standard refresh" (new brakes, suspension, cooling system, ignition components, tyres etc) plus anything else it could benefit from.
However - THIS one looks a bit better than what I'd expect from a £3k car, so (although all the things on my list are probably past their best due to age), a new owner may well be happy to use it as it is (with a bit of a 'personal touch' tart-up).
Clearly it needs attention to the engine - maybe repairable, maybe not (maybe not worth the money of a rebuild if you want to throw a used unit in - up to you really) - after that, well, it may benefit from a new light unit, or it may suit you as it is....
...... anyway, it will probably be gone very soon!
(I don't like BRG ones, but if I was after another Elan, I would have gone to look at it yesterday, and taken a trailer!!!!)

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it
...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?
