chassis removal

got a bit of time, but not a lot of success
i,m trying to remove the chassis - i,ve got all the bolts out - by hook or crook - and the thing is still stuck to the shell - am I missing something ?

It should just lift off. Are you sure you have got all the bolts out. There are a few foam gaskets which can stick a little, but not enough to hold the weight of the chassis

I can get the back to drop
I can flex either side of the front legs where the longerons bolt to it
I,ve run a thin blade between the front bulkhead and the chassis where the x 4 front bolts go through and confirmed there is a gap there
it seems to be stuck at the front centre section fwd of the gear lever mount and up against the bulkhead where the chassis front cross beam goes
am I missing anything that might be lurking behind / under the facia assembly ?

Can't remember anything behind the facia. Brit-car-Nut post shows all the bolts that go directly between the chassis and the tub.

There are a couple of support bars which run from the base of the windscreen pillars to the top of the prongerons, they are hidden under the clam when it is in place. Have you removed these?

Is the steering colum fouling on the chassis?

Hve you serparated the brake lines from the master cylinder? or removed the master cylinder?

Have you separated all the coolant & electrical lines where they go through the tub?

thanks again; the only thing I haven't done is find this scuttle beam brace, the chassis diagram does suggest there are x 2 mount's fwd of the aperture for the gear stick assembly - which will be behind the central instrument facia - so i,ll go investigate there
By the way it is moving it does suggest there is something keeping a hold of it in that area
my issue is manuals - and my lack of desire to read them - I better learn or else i,ll never get this jigsaw puzzle back together

Have you removed the Top Shell? How about the struts between the suspension turrets and the "A" Posts or the rest of this list?

If you've removed the engine and all the front engine chassis bits
you've got the hand brake and gear lever assembly and the brake pipes and the battery + lead - and the fuel pipes all sorted
the steering rack out
you've got the x 16 chassis to tub bolts removed
well there are - IMO actually x 18 bolts holding the chassis to the tub - remove the instrument fascia and lurking under the main power distribution fuse box that's behind the fascia - you,ll find x 2 M8 bolts that hold the scuttle beam brace - you can see the location in the parts catalogue chassis picture - fwd of the cutting in the main beam for the gear stick assembly

The body went on originally with the engine in place so it should be possible.

Thank you. Am at the pedal and heating box removal stage. BTW the throttle body steps down to 55mm so the BMW E46 one was too big. Ford use a 55mm one but then it needs a mounting plate so you can rotate by 45 degrees and the relative bolts don't use the same holes. What fun.
