Elan-specific bolt package

Postby nitroman » Mon 12.04.2004, 23:47

I keep being disappointed at the under-bonnet condition of Elans. The ones that look great on the outside & even the interior, but that don't include a picture of the engine invariably have dirty/corroded engines. I just now looked at another example of same when I requested an engine shot. I am thinking of putting together polished stainless-steel bolt packages to replace those under-bonnet ones which can be seen when the bonnet is open. I can also include in this the rear-bumper screws, oil-pan bolts, license-plate bolts, and wheel-liner bolts with a round (conical/moon) head. My wheel-liner bolts have not corroded but I can see where those who drive in rain/snow/salted roads would, and bolts with a conical head should be as kind to your tires as the thin-wall bolts which came standard. Please let me know if you have interest in a complete polished bolt package and if there is enough interest I will work up a price.  I can label where each bolt goes and even use the diagrams from the parts manual as a visual aid; pointing to the exact location.  I could also provide non-polished stainless bolts at significantly less £££.  They won't be nearly as pretty but they will never corrode.

for the right price, they would look better than what I got.  I have half the engine compartment bolts out right now, so would be interested in where I could source some right now.

Sorry I haven't posted prices for the bolts yet.  I got out the list and have started, but am putting in a lot of hours at work right now preparing for an outside audit, trying to get the company into SOX compliance.

I am 1/4 of the way to having the bolt list priced.  I need to know for each car if you have Bill's exhaust or the OEM one, and also if you have a blow-off valve & which one.  If interested email me at matt10229@comcast.net with the answers.  There will be 4 kits available:  a "standing" (engine viewed from the top) and a below kit (bolts you can see when underneath the car).  Each will be available either polished or not.  I am only including those bolts which can actually be seen without disassembling the car.

I didn't know the idea was that popular.  You would be surprised how long it takes to price those bolts out with all the washers, etc. plus the polishing price.  I started an Excel spreadshet with both polished/unpolished prices but I'm not done.  Dave, can you see the bolts which hold the fuel-rail on?  I'm not at home right now.  What size are they?

Shite.  I intended to go to work on the Excel spreadsheet with prices but the vile thing won't open.  A week or 2 ago I had to reload everything on my computer & I guess I left out the Micriosoft Office products, for which I cannot find the CD.  If someone else wants to take this over I'll send you the file, yes, the one I can't open; along with the price lists you'll need to populate the rest of the fields.  After all, in life you have to do a lot of things you don't f*cking want to do.  Many times, that's what the f*ck life is... one vile f*cking task after another. OK mate, all the info is in your hands.  Good luck.  I just realized I don't even have Microsoft Word anymore.  Never move.  Too much stuff simply becomes misplaced.
