Just did the paper clip test and have a code 24.

What does the Vehicle speed sensor do?

Its a sensor that is attached to the back of the speedometer and its driven by the same cable. As Monty suggests - it provides a speed reading for the ECU.
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but it doesn't take any to sit on your arse with a blank look on your face.

OK but why does the ECU need a speed reading, would this be for fuel air mix etc?????(that must came off RPM speed not MPH)
I know some car's have speed sensor's for speed sensitive steering, 4WS, or a top speed limiter.
Does the Elan have a top speed limiter????(i don't think it would have)
So what does it do? i know it give's the ECU the speed BUT why? Why would it need to know this?
Would this make the 4000rpm come on???????
Any

See manual EMJ.2, page 12 top.
VVS used for aircon, idel,ex.gas recirk, and charcoal canister purge.
