Canadians to get M100’s?

Is it true that Canadians will be able to import, and register, M100’s next year? I recall hearing that they could bring in any conforming USA specification cars after they were 15 years old.

Will the USA suffer an M100 drain? What are the best high performance snow tires? Am I off in never land again?

Of course most are now lusting over the Elise.

Are the M100 that are currently in Canada any different than the US version? I have seen a lot of Elans for sale from Canada so I would find it hard to belive that you could not bring a US version M100 until now. Strange, but I have heard of this before with a car I sold a fellow from Toronto.

The Ministry Of Transportation says that you can import a car if its "made" in the U.S. (which the Elan wasn't) with the exception of cars on their official list (which the Elan isn't). However, once a car hits 15 years old, the restrictions are lifted. So, in 2006, 1991 Elans can be imported into Canada. I may do that myself.

The only sticking point here is whether they look at model year of manufacturing date (i thnk its mfg. date). Depending on when the '91's were actually made, you might be able to import a '91 today into Canada or have to wait until mid 2006.

Cool. I have never seen a Canadian M100. I know at least one Canadian Lotus frantic who had expressed interest in owning one.
