Desmond, for every little thing I installed I posted its origin as well. As far as the new head gusget (a used one treated accordingly actually) with the harder springs, was presented to me 20 days ago as a surprise and I really have no idea yet of what they used. Will post about it as soon as possible. All I know is that it guarantees to allow the Horsepower curve to keep climbing after 7000rpm and till at least 7500. 8200rpm is our initial goal. Dont wanna spoil Daves thread, I stop now! :)

No spoil to anyone's thread if there is good info that people can learn from! Let's all keep up the good work.

Thanks Dave , Costas. I will continue to learn from both threads.

For the gasket, i do agree a good seal is of utmost important, hence metal gasket needs to be very well fabricated. I prefer rubber but it doesnt quite give the added relability where thickness is concerned. usually, i think, think gaskets are used to increase the height, thereby, more volume for air and fuel mix for more power. i stand corrected though.

anyway, i got a set of the ARP bolts earlier from One of the members of the forum. it was a good deal as i was told.

i guess i may have to slowly save up for engine parts and then proceed to the local lotus dealer for engine works later since no local shops are confident to the mods.

we'll see :) and yes, i am still keepin an eye on the shifter and cooling kits...

thanks!Des -

Due to the fact that JE Pistons are 1mm wider I ahd to treat the block accordingly and on top I had to fabricate the gasget seal. Here it is...

....and placed in position.

Have to mention that we sprayed a layer of copper on it for a better seal effect.

The cost of the Gusget Seal was about 250 Euros.

I have to say that this is the most excited I have been to make a post in quite some time. Install begins as soon as I'm back from LOG.

It does look nice once all the goo is off the outside and a fresh coat of paint on the block...but all the good stuff is on the inside!

Costas will be jealous of the black paint!

looks fabulous -- what's your address (so we can come by and steal it while you are away)? I see it's just inside your center garage door

look forward to seeing it in the flesh later this Fall . . .

i am blown away! and then blown away again!
wow, what excellent work and quality. the entire engine looks new and well detailed.

On the cam shaft dials, is it a lightened or aluminium fabricated one? has gone to our HKS local dealer earlier (he is able to get special parts not in brochures) but they are unable to supply.

Any merit is having a lighter one? of course, looks plays the part as well.
worth considering i suppose?

again, wow, i would love that engine!

Actually the cam pulleys are stock. They are just clean now. There is benefit to having lighter units (less rotating mass), as well as having adjustible ones, though I haven't gotten that deep (yet) into the project.

Glad you guys like the engine. I really am liking the white/black contrast. Might have to get some black wheels now and take a page from the new Exige. They call it the Stormtrooper.

After further consideration, the engine has been moved to an undisclosed location. :P

Actually, it merely got moved to the back of the garage...

And so the reassembly has begun... After spreading (almost) everything out on the workbench two nights ago, last night I began bolting things back on. All the sandwich bags with taped labels may look funny and very anal (which I am anyway  ), but man, does it make putting things back together easy. So does pictures of how it looked to begin with. That's why you may have seen pics from all around the engine after removal. They sit right next to my torque spec sheets as guideance. Hopefully the engine will be ready to go in by the end of the weekend (need the turbo brackets first).

One thing that surprised me during this process was how much different the Unorthodox Racing underdrive pulley was from stock. The stock pulley 3-4 pounds vs. maybe one pound for the UR piece. Not to mention the diameter difference. Will need new belts, for sure. Especially since the outside belt will only go to the power steering pump now (no AC compressor)!

Note in the second picture the modifications to the pulley for balancing purposes. The entire rotating assembly was balanced with the UR pulley and the flywheel on. I have similar holes in the flywheel.

Doesn't that mean that your alternator and power steering pump will both run at lower revs than before?
