Fuel injectors will not pump fuel.

Hello, new user so any help with the forum and process would be much appreciated. I have a 1991 Elan with 19K miles that was running perfectly. It has been laid-up for about 6 months for paint, top and power window work. Everything went really well except it now will not start. Tha engine cranks and will run fine as long as I spray "starting fluid" into the air inlet. The fuel pump is pumping gobs of fuel, don't know the pressure, but the fuel injectors are not pumping fuel. I have pulled every relay I could find and tested them OK. I do not have a wiring diagram or any other information. Did not get an owners manual with the car. Hopefully someone has a clue and would pass it along to me.

Get an injector "noid light" and see if you are receiving signal. If you are, then the injectors are probably faulty.

They can gum up & stick, but 6 months isn't very long...

Several months back I had a similar problem that drove me nuts! To make a long story short, check the connection on your injectors and the connectors. My injectors contacts were all corroded over and not making contact. I use a light as mentioned by Ashaman to test for a single at the connector and the light showed that I was getting a signal. I also tried the "starter fluid" trick and the engine worked just fine. It was not until I started pulling the fuel rail until I noticed that the connections on the injectors them-self were really bad. I cleaned then with a small wire brush on a dermal and reconnected everything and the car fired right-up and ran great. I have since replaced my stock injectors with higher flow RC injectors

I had a gummed up injector, cured by tapping the side of the injector body with a ratchet handle from my socket set. Tap them all and see if you get anything. Mine would run, and the tapping gradually made it run smoother and smoother until it was fine.
